Tour Overview
Dreaming of standing on the Roof of Africa? Our 8-day Kilimanjaro trek via the Marangu Route is a scenic and comfortable path to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Unlike other routes, Marangu offers cozy overnight stays in mountain huts, making it a great choice for those looking for both adventure and a bit of comfort.
The journey begins in the lush rainforest and gradually ascends through moorland and alpine desert before reaching the icy summit of Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. Along the way, you'll enjoy occasional views of Mount Meru, Shira Ridge, and breathtaking sunrise scenes as you climb above the clouds.
Though considered one of the more accessible routes, the Marangu Route still demands physical endurance, especially as you gain altitude. With an 8-day itinerary, we include an extra acclimatization day—greatly increasing your chances of a successful and safe summit experience.

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi – Pre-Trek Preparation
Your adventure begins as our driver welcomes you at Kilimanjaro Airport and escorts you to Sal Salinero Hotel in Moshi. Settle in, unwind by the pool, or take a stroll through this charming mountain town. In the evening, your guide will host a detailed briefing to prepare you for the epic climb ahead.

Day 2: Rainforest Trek to Mandara Hut
After breakfast, we'll drive to Marangu Gate for park registration before setting off on your first trek through misty montane rainforest. Keep an eye out for playful black-and-white colobus monkeys in the canopy! At Mandara Hut, refuel with a hot meal, then hike to Maundi Crater for sweeping views of Kenya's plains.

Day 3: Into the Moorland – Horombo Hut
Leaving the forest behind, the trail opens into heather-clad moorland with giant lobelias. As you ascend, the twin peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi dominate the horizon. Arrive at Horombo Hut by midday—rest, hydrate, and marvel at the sunset over the clouds.

Day 4: Acclimatization Hike to Zebra Rocks
A shorter day to help your body adjust. Trek to the iconic Zebra Rocks, named for their striped volcanic patterns, then return to Horombo for lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing—play cards, journal, or chat with fellow climbers.

Day 5: The Alpine Desert – Kibo Hut
Cross the stark alpine desert, where only hardiest plants survive. After the "Last Water Point", traverse the barren Saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi. Arrive early at Kibo Hut to rest before your midnight summit push!

Day 6: Summit Night – Uhuru Peak!
Depart at midnight under a blanket of stars. Trek switchbacks up frozen scree to Gilman's Point (5,703m) for sunrise over the crater rim. Push onward to Uhuru Peak, Africa's highest point! Celebrate with photos before descending to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.

Day 7: Descent to Moshi – Celebration!
A triumphant descent through rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for a victory dinner and relive your achievement.

Day 8: Farewell or Safari Extension
After breakfast, we'll take you to Kilimanjaro Airport—or extend your adventure with a wildlife safari or beach retreat in Zanzibar!
